The positive effects of apple cider vinegar on the levels of blood sugar
A study done by the Arizona State University analyzed 11 patients who were diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. During the study they didn’t take insulin but they took their regular prescription medications.
Half of the patients took two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and one ounce of cheese before going to bed, while the other half took one ounce of cheese with water. In the mornings, those who took ACV showed lower readings of blood sugar in comparison to those who took the cheese with water.
This discovery has enormous significance, since the number of people in the U.S struggling with diabetes or high levels of blood sugar is in increase.
A large number of studies have been made in order to prove the healing properties of apple cider vinegar.
In one study researchers divided participants into three groups: group 1 – patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, group 2 – pre diabetes patients and group 3 – healthy people.
By consuming apple cider vinegar along with high-carb meals, the type-2 diabetes patients lowered the blood sugar levels by 25%, while pre-diabetics decreased the levels of blood sugar by 50%.
Due to the acetic acid (the main ingredient of ACV), the glucose metabolism in the liver can be altered. This acid has anti-glycemic effects as well, which means that it delays the gastric emptying and reduces the starch digestion in those who suffer from diabetes.
Apple cider vinegar promotes weight loss
According to the researchers, owing to the active ingredient in ACV – acetic acid, patients can easily decrease their weight by consuming apple cider vinegar.
A Japanese study divided patients into three categories, all of which had similar body weight, waist measurement and body mass index. The first group took ½ ounces of apple cider vinegar, the second group took only one ounce and the third group took no apple cider vinegar at all.
The results showed that participants who took apple cider vinegar had lower levels of triglycerides, smaller waist measurements, lower body weight and belly fat due to the ACV’s ability to speed up the metabolism and decrease obesity.
Apple cider vinegar prevents cardiovascular problems
ACV has antioxidant chlorogenic acid which protects the ″good″ cholesterol particles from oxidation, which is crucial for protecting the heart from various ailments.
Apple cider vinegar boosts the immune system and destroys cancer cells
ACV has antioxidant effects, so it can detox the lymphatic system and regulate the homeostatic function in the organism. This reduces the oxidative stress caused by the free radicals, thus improving the health and function of the whole organism.
Apple cider vinegar also provides immune support and it can destroy the cancer cells. Another Japanese study proved that some fermented kinds of ACV have been used to induce death of cancer cells (known as apoptosis) in leukemia, whereas rice vinegar can stop the growth of cancer cells in breast, colon, bladder and prostate cancer by 62%.
ACV effectively treats nocturnal leg cramps
Many people suffer from nocturnal leg cramps which are caused by potassium deficiency. However, the cramps can be prevented with consumption of apple cider vinegar due to the presence of potassium in its content.
It also stops allergies
If you suffer from sinus obstruction and allergies, a glass of water mixed with apple cider vinegar will certainly alleviate these symptoms.
